Named for the late A H Larkman, Chief Engineer of the "Aurora" by the Southern Party of the NZGSAE, 1961-62. The ashes of the late Mr Larkman were scattered over this feature in November 1962, from an aircraft of the VX6 Squadron, US Navy, Operation Deep Freeze.
