A convention was designed to establish clear rules about any minerals related activity which might in the future be proposed for Antarctica, together with strict enviornmental protection measures, which was eventually superseded by the Protocol on environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty. Chris Beeby hosted an international seminar on this work on the Beardmore Glacier in 1982/83, at which NZ's most southerly game of cricket also took place.Elevation1,400m
