Name StatusApproved: NZGB Antarctic CommitteeFeatureGlacierNZ Gazette Reference2009 (77) p.1803DatumRSRGD2000GeoTag[1] PositionDescriptionA large, prominent tongue of blue ice, which plunges between Blank Peninsula and Mount Rich into the centre of the Brown Hills. Discovered by the Victoria University of Wellington Antarctic Expedition (1962-63). So named because in plan the glacier is shaped like the head and neck of a dog with a transverse zig-zag moraine forming the collar and a proglacial lake in the position of the ears. Fog regularly accumulated over the glacier from the Ross Ice Shelf.
