This glacier was discovered by the NAE, 1901-04, but was not named until the BAE, 1910-13. Named by Taylor for Lieutenant Henry R Bowers, RIM, who lost his life on the return journey from the South Pole. Not Butter Point Piedmont or Butter Point Piedmont Glacier.
