The peak has a spire-like rock summit at the south end of a narrow snow ridge and overlooks almost the entire watersheds of the Fry and Mawson Glaciers. The Northern Survey Party established a survey station on its summit on 11 December 1957. Named for Murray H Douglas, a member of the Northern Survey Party.
