A high ridge runs south to Mt Perseverance. Used as a reference point in October 1957 by the Northern Survey Party of the NZTAE, 1956-58. Named by them because of its similarity to the Canterbury-West Coast mountain in New Zealand of that name, and in association with nearby Mt Arrowsmith.
