About one hundred square miles in area, the highest point being about 2900m above sea level. Many days were spent in the vicinity of this massif by the Southern Party of the NZGSAE, 1961-62, who named this feature. They occupied a survey station at Misery Peak on the western side of the massif. Named for A R Roberts, leader at Scott Base for 1961-62.
