It is 39m high and is covered with an ice-cap. Discovered on Christmas Day 1902 by Captain William Colbeck, RNR, commander of the NAE, 1901-04, relief ship Morning, who named it for Captain Robert F Scott, RN, leader of the expedition. It was first intended to call it Markham Island, but this was changed to Scott Island. Not Scott Islands.
