Surveyed and named by the Southern Party of the NZGSAE, 1961-62, for Thomas Taylor, surveyor with Dr C E Swithinbank's Glaciological Expeditions of 1960-61 and 1961-62, who worked for a short period during both summers near the mouth of the Shackleton Glacier.
