Discovered on 26 January 1929 by the Byrd AE, 1928-30. Named by Byrd for George Tennant, the cook who accompanied him on two expeditions. After the North Polar expedition Tennant offered to give his meagre salary to help pay the deficit. Not Mt Tennant.
