At this site, the sea ice was 3 m thick and has a layer of platelet ice on the underside giving the sea ice a cloud-like appearance. The sea floor (15 m depth) is covered in anchor ice. Installed experiimental racks and spectroradiometers are visible, and were used to examine in situ effects of UV-B radiation on sea urchin embryo development.
