Event NameNZARP Biological Survey 1960/61AbstractThe 1959-60 Cape Royds biological party| along with carrying out several specific projects conducted a compleate and exhaustive population study. In thispart of their programme| along with total counts of adults| eggs and chicks which are in the main| only significant for the season in which the survey is made| they initiated investigations essential to the understanding of the rookery| but which to be of use required checking the following season. These multi-season investigations are mainly concerned with nest site and partner retention throughout the consecutive years| and data from these gives values on adult stability and mortality| in both absolute and comparative terms. Comparative because similar work is being done in other rookeries adjacent to surrounding scientific stations| (Cape Hallett) wherre both birds and humans are through familiarity beginning to accept each other. During the 1960-61 season| the party carrie on work initiated by Yound and Taylor - making daily population counts| cjecking banded pairs and marked nest sites and studying the cause and effect of extraneous disturbances.PersonnelDr Brian ReidDr Colin BaileyLocationsCape RoydsCape HallettCape AdareGeolocation[1] Position[2] Position[3] PositionSeason1960-1961
