The main objectives of the party were briefly to investigate some volcanic outcropping at the head of the Aviator Glacier, and a complete geological survey of the Campbell-Priestly Glaciers divide, thereby connecting the work done by H Gair - northern party, 1961-1962 and that done by J Ricker - Southern party 1961-1962. In connection with the Aviator Glacier outcroppings it was proposed to place movement stakes across both branches of the glacier where the Navigator Nunatak divides it. These objectives were achieved although the movement of stakes plan was modified due to time, weather, crevassing and their reassessed importance. Soil samples and bugs were collected throughout the whole trip for USARP biologists.
