Continuation of the following: It is proposed that a tellurometer survey be carried out in McMurdo Sound, Ross Island and the islands to the south during the summer of 1962/63. The purpose of the survey is to establish survey points at which will be erected permanent beacons and which will be used for;
a) Survey triangulation and mapping of Ross Island in relation to McMurdo Sound, and the mainland,
(b) Resection points for glaciological work on the McMurdo Ice shelf,
(c) Fixed land points for shipboard oceanographic position resection in McMurdo Sound. Survey points to be established at Observation Hill, Route (Hut Point peninsula - north of Castle Rock), Tent island, Cape Royds, Mt Bird, The Knoll (Cape Crozier), Conical Hill (Cape McKay), Mt Heine (White island), Black Island (exact peak not yet determined), Minna Bluff (high point east end), Brown Peninsula.
