We have had an awesome week since the last update, with a two day weekend including a FAM trip (we normally only get Sunday's off). The trip was a Ski-doo ride out to the Constellation. The Constellation is a C-121 Lockheed Constellation aircraft which crashed on Oct 8, 1970. The aircraft crashed in bad weather attempting to land, thankfully none of the 80 people on the flight were injured. The Americans have left the plane as a monument.

The Ski-doo ride was a lot of fun and we were very lucky to get the opportunity with such good weather and help from the rest of the Scott Base Staff.

We have completed the work on the temporary food stores. A 75 tonne crane from McMurdo Station came to lift the containers into a steel frame that we assembled. The frame was pre-fabricated and shipped down. The boys had a few cold days finishing it off at around -30°C. This new temporary food store is nice and close for the kitchen staff to get to their frozen food while the HFC renovations are going on.
