We commemorated ANZAC day at Scott Base with the reading of the Ode followed by the lowering of the flag ceremony. The temperature was an unseasonably warm -11°C as a bugle played the Last Post.
We invited some Americans over from McMurdo to share the experience. After the ceremony we all went inside for ANZAC biscuits. You may have read about this as it featured in a few local newspapers, stuff.co.nz and 3News website.
We are now officially into 24 hour darkness, it is a bizarre feeling eating lunch and looking out the windows with it being dark. It will be a strange feeling coming back to NZ and seeing the sun!
HFC work is going well. The Defence Force; flew out on the 18th April on an Australian Air Bus. It was hard to see them go and there were a few moist eyes in the departure lounge, watching the team say goodbye. They were a big part of our team to leave, but we are still going strong with a crew now of seven.
