Apprent-ICE Blog #12
This week saw Scott base play host to a mini golf tournament. Some of us paired up to create a hole each of our own. The link ways around base were filled with obstacles and contraptions, and on Sunday afternoon, the coldest day we've seen on base this year, -51, the tournament kicked off!
American's from over the hill came in droves to have a go, and from the comments made at the prize giving, they all thoroughly enjoyed themselves!
After the golf wrapped up, three friendly American's stayed behind and took over the kitchen, serving up what is hopefully the first of many burgers bar nights for the team at Scott Base - delicious!!
One more week until last sun rise! So we're losing about and hour of daylight a day! I took one last opportunity to head out and up Crater Hill just above Base. The photo taken from the top was at 5:30pm last Tuesday, and even then there was minimal light. Still an awesome view of which I will likely not be able to witness again.
Work in the HFC is still steaming along with this being the last week with support from the seven defence force carpenters and engineers. Pallet after pallet of frozen Gib board just keeps on rolling out of the containers and in doors for us to put on the walls and ceilings (hopefully making a dent in the stack of 560 sheets sent down for the job!). It's good to see things taking shape and beginning to see what the HFC will finally look like after it's complete.
