Apprent-ICE 2016 Blog #6

We have reached equilibrium meaning we are in normal daylight hours to back home. This will not be the case for very long as the sun is setting around 30mins earlier each night, so we are getting to see some amazing sun sets and rises. On Monday a group of us took advantage of the nice night and head out on an hour Hagglund trip to Ford Rock near the base of Erebus where we got to view an incredible sunset setting over McMurdo Sound.

On Wednesday a group of us head over the hill to McMurdo for the fortnightly trivia night. As per usual we did not do very well coming in last again but it's all about participation right?! It was an entertaining time.

On Saturday Scott Base hosted a Saint Patricks Day party with quite a few Americans coming over. It was a good turn out and a good night had by all!!

Work was cool this week as I was tasked with helping to build two coffee tables that are to be send back to Christchurch. We have come up with a design that consists of using old snow sled parts. I have thoroughly enjoyed working on these tables and doing a lot of challenging finer work, restoring some sled parts that were made in 1980s. Work on the HFC extensions has been progressing along steadily with the Leighs Construction crew bringing both buildings up to 18 degrees allowing work on grouting the pre-cast floor units to carry on.
